What You're Going to Learn

  • SQL Querying Fundamentals
  • Advanced SQL Querying
  • SQL Database Design

This program focuses on the skills needed to design, build, and query SQL databases.  Many of the world’s most powerful programs and websites use SQL to manage the incredible amount of data they work with on a daily basis.  As a result, understanding how to query data from platforms like Microsoft SQL Server 2016 is a highly valuable skill.

This courses covers material in two of the official Microsoft MCSA database courses:

  • 20761 – Querying Data with Transact-SQL
  • 20762-1 – Developing SQL Databases
Students will have the option to take the two associated Microsoft SQL exams.  Passing these exams will earn students the MCSA Database Development Certification.

It's a Great Time to Become a Database Developer

  1. Job opportunities are growing, and that’s not going to change in the near future.  It’s no secret that data is growing exponentially. Someone has to administer those databases to keep them clean and accessible. That spells good news for DBAs. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of database administrators is projected to grow 11 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. DBA employment is also projected to outpace other jobs in the IT sector.

  2. DBA positions provide competitive salaries with opportunities for advancement.  U.S. News & World Report ranks the DBA position as the sixth-best technology job. This is due in no small part to the healthy salary. The median annual salary for a DBA is $81,710, according to the Bureau of Labor. U.S. News reports that DBAs in the upper quartile of the profession can expect to make $103,500 and upwards. The job offers above-average opportunities for advancement and salary increases.
